Well as the season is now coming to a close and what a season it has been on
domain de Goncourt !
Just a small write up on how my year went , so here goes !
Well let's start on how many years I have fished Goncourt , maybe 10 years or
more lost count , fished all lakes several times over, had ups and downs but
this year has been the most interesting for me in my personal life and more to
the point the fishing , let's start with my first trip to woods lake in April ,
had the pleasure of fishing with a good friend Phil Timmins on the new
island with the new lodge and wow what a lodge , kicked off on the Saturday well
let's say the Sunday lol fished Sunday to Wednesday ( no nights ) fished swim
towards Pascale Briallart garden ,
had fish from the off the mark and they came thick and fast ( mostly carp) cut a
long story short I came away catching 86 carps in 4 days ! and lets not get
confused these were mirrors and commons , fished one rod as that was all that
was possible , let me remind you this was the 10 year anniversary of Goncourt
and we had a ball in the short time I was there , putting faces to names at long
last , was a pleasure and a great laught to meet the southerners Steve Cole , James Harewood , etc etc
unfortunately I had to leave the early hours of Thursday morning as my little
boy was on his way :) , big thanks to phil for getting up with me and Pascale
for getting in contact at 3 in the morning ( it was emotional ) .missed the
celebrations on the Thursday night but hey ho my first child was on his way , ok
so more recently I fished saule in August for the 3 rd time , was slow fishing (
16 fish in total ) but wow they were fish , all over 40lb with my first 50 at
55lb rolling into my net ( bout time ) think I caught every 40 on the complex
!!!!! So all I can say is that it's been my best season so far and thanks to
everyone for making that season pascal , Maxime Briallart, Phil
Timmins and the southern lot , let's see what next year has in stall as the
complex gets better every year , much love darryl mattison ."
