Bait used - MAize & plastic tip 9balanced baits, boilies) (cell 12-18mls (balanced pop ups)
Groundbait - very little at a time
very wet & cold all week but enjoyed the runs & bites when they came. Had some great fish as you can see - must keep your eyes on the water at all times

12 x 20lb up to 29lb.12

Just no cleaning mop for the shower as their was a pool of water gathering after every shower

Catch details :  The Group had in total 46 fish but without looking in the lodge book I cannot remember them all but their were 3 x 50’s up to 58.08lb then some 40’s, 30’s and 20’s everyone broke their French Personal Best and all went away happy and ready for next year on Traque again

Tactics and baits :   Maize and boilies were the main baits used as we already knew maize was a good bait on Goncourt tactics were simple just feed little and often with most bites coming in the morning

Just got back from saules and had a fantastic time, we had 2 x 20, 7 x 30, 8 x 40 , 4 x 50 and a massive 64lb mirror caught by Dave Wills 2 hours before going home.

So looking forward to go back to such a great place in 2013, this will be my 6th time.

Barn Owl Lake : 90 kg catfish caught by Chris Bristow

"Hi Sandrine,

Please find enclosed pictures of cat caught at Barn Owl Lake last weekend.

The details are as follows: Shimano hyperloop 12 foot barbel power-rod. Shimano 4000 symetre reel loaded with 12lb mono and attached to a 25lb fluorocarbon hook link and a Hutchy size 6 hook......... bait was dog biscuit !!!

90 kilos, 2.3 metres in length - swim was prebaited the previous night with Frolic by Simon.

The beast took me an hour and 25 mins to land, it's the first fish I've ever had in the press and only this time as a tribute to my good friend - Simon Horton.

This is the most amazing lake I have ever come across, the fish are stacked up like breeze blocks - I would defy anybody to fish properly with more than one rod, it is just not possible to keep any more in the water. The loss of 2 bigger fish has prompted me to come back with my good friend, David Richings, later in the year in an effort to empty it !!

This is our holiday report from Jim, Jack/Bob, Dennis and Mick fishing saules from 5/5/12 to 12/5/12.
4-20s,

13-30s,

1-50lb 10oz (pb Bob) and 

1-61lb exactly (pb mick) superb fish! 

And of course 1-8lb Tench (pb Dennis)
All carp were mirrors. Once again we had a great week and many thanks to pascale for the very welcome champagne and the delicious pie! Hope you are all keeping well and look forward to seeing you again in 2013!

"Hi Sandrine,
3 of us fished le traque may 5th to the 11th. The fishing was fantastic for the first 3 days.
We had 51 fish including :
2 x 50s
8 x 40s to 49.15
15 x 30s then they completely switched off to spawn.

The lovely pascal could not do enough for us as usual ,even going to get us some bread every day because the baker was on holiday she is an absolute diamond."

Maxim was exellent really helpful with bait, directions and weather etc, great host.

Only minor complaint was the potholes in the tracks around the lake other than that it was awesome!"
